Many Chicagoans, myself included, remember the television series "Unsolved Mysteries" hosted by Raymond Burr, Karl Malden, and most memorably in my opinion the amazing talent and voice of Robert Stack. The series started in 1987 on NBC and ended its network run with CBS in 1999. The series was revived by Lifetime from 2001 to 2002 and then again revived by Spike TV from 2008 t0 2010 starring Dennis Farina. Currently Lifetime runs re-runs of the revived series.

The original producers of the show, Cosgrove-Meurer Productions, maintain a website for current "Mysteries" and I thought it was amazing when they contacted me in order to do a video regarding the almost 60 year-old Chicago murder case of Barbara and Patricia Grimes.

The website maintained by "Unsolved Mysteries" will feature Chicago's 1956 Grimes Murder on April 15, 2016[/caption]
I have been researching the Grimes case since roughly 2009 and had started a facebook group called Help Solve the Chicago Grimes Sisters Murder. Currently the group has over 1,300 members many of whom are family members, neighbors or classmates of the girls. The goal of the group was an informal place to share memories of the girls as well as having a place of open discussion of theories regarding the case.
Briefly, for those unfamiliar with the case, On December 28, 1956, Barbara Grimes, 15 and her sister Patricia,13 (Petey to close friends and family) left their home at 3634 S. Damen Avenue in Chicago's McKinley Park Neighborhood at roughly 7:30pm. They left after dinner to go to the Brighton Theater on Archer Avenue to see their idol, Elvis Presley, in the movie "Love Me Tender". According to friends of the girls they were seen at the movie but they never returned home. On January 22, 1957 their bodies were found along the north side of German Church Road roughly 150 feet east of County Line Road in what was then unincorporated Burr Ridge. Autopsies performed were inconclusive and the only cause of death was listed as "secondary shock due to cold temperatures" The case is still unsolved.

The video of the case will be live on their website tomorrow, April 15, 2016 and we are hoping that the additional exposure will help to jog viewers' memories and possibly bring new information forward to investigators.
