If Your Religion is OK with the Bombing in Manchester, It is Time to Re-think Your Beliefs!

People will more than likely think this is a post looking to demonize the Islamic faith, it is not.  It is simply a call for those who hold beliefs that would cause them to justify the murder of at least 22 (mostly children) innocent people at an Ariana Grande concert to possibly re-think their political position or beliefs. My hope is that the vast majority of the world's people would agree that the wholesale slaughter of children is universally despicable.  I am not so ignorant as to not understand that in many other countries around the world this is not an uncommon thing.  Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more common. There will be the usual outrage by political leaders, the finger pointing, the facebook filters, people so angry that hate speech becomes commonplace on social media, funds will be raised and facebook friends will be lost, but what are we really to do? If I had the easy answer to that, I would be much richer than I am now! But one thing I can do is to ask people to look at themselves.  What do YOU believe in? Do you believe that others who do not believe as you do should be killed? Do you believe that women are inferior to men? Do you believe religious leaders should cover up crimes like pedophilia to protect themselves and their image? Do you believe that one religion should govern the world? Do you believe religion should govern at all? Can you look at pictures like the ones coming out of Manchester this time and somehow justify it? Do you believe that speaking out with opinions about any issue justifies a murderous or violent response? If you answered, Yes, to any of the above questions then I disagree with you!  That's it!  I disagree with you!  I don't believe you should be hunted down or killed. What I do believe is that if you answered Yes, then you have no place in a civilized, democratic society or should seriously take a good look at what it is that you believe in. Until we start looking at ourselves, we have no chance of making a positive difference in this world. #prayformanchester Find Chicago History The Stranger Side on FACEBOOK Find Ray Johnson on Twitter and Google+
